2023 Autumn ACAM Quarterly Newsletter

Summer has slipped away and in some cases, gratefully and winter approaching rapidly. The general medical and aesthetic community has seen is preparing for a change in clinical landscapes with new Medical Board of Australia Guidelines for registered medical practitioners who perform cosmetic surgery and procedures, implementation date of 1st July 2023.[1] All sectors of our community are strongly advised to read the new Guidelines and assess how they may affect practices and practitioners. Noted in the Guidelines is the requirement for all individuals involved providing cosmetic medicine services (by extension supervising cosmetic medicine services) to demonstrate CPD specifically in the area of cosmetic medicine and to ensure they carry the correct Medical Indemnity Insurance for the procedures they are conducting. ACAM requires it members to declare annually they are in fact insured for the procedures they are conducting….
