ACAM The Motivated Patient

Description:

The Medical Board of Australia (MBA) introduced new Guidelines for those practitioners who offer cosmetic surgical or other procedures.  The Guidelines are due to be implemented on the 1  July 2023, which has expressed a concerned for the diagnosis and management of patients who suffer from Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD).

The Motivated Patient Examination and its accompanying resources are designed to ensure practitioners are across the lasted information and academic concerning BDD.

Resources are provided for the examination, you are expected to review the DSMV (a link is provided) and current peer review papers (provided).  In the event that a paper is not provided you are encouraged to create a Pubmed account and use the search term “Body Dysmorphic Disorder” to review the latest peer reviewed literature.

Upon completion of The Motivated Patient Examination a certificate will be generated and this will count for 6 hours of ACAM CPD.

  • Education 2.5 hours
  • Reflection 2.5 hours  
  • Performance Review 1 hour

This examination makes up part of the ACAM mandatory CPD requirements to be completed once a triennium.

Course Length:

Self paced, online & open book

You have 30 minutes to answer 20 questions consisting of multiple choice and true and false.  The pass mark is 80% and you get unlimited attempts.

The examination can be open book (resources are available) and should take approximately 30 minutes. Participants may re-enrol in the course as many times as they wish.

  • Skin diseases and psychological morbidity.
  • Motivations, demography of patients with BDD.
  • Obsessive Compulsive and Body Dysmorphic Disorder

Course Cost:

For ACAM financial fellows, members and nurse members, this course is free.

For Non-members the course fee is $350.
