ACAM Head and Neck Anatomy Course

Description:
Your course coordinator, Associate Professor Bakr, will guide students through the complexities of facial and neck anatomy in this interactive course delivered via Zoom over a six-week period, with reinforcement quizzes at the end of each week on ACAM’s e-skilled platform.
Associate Professor Bakr, the ex-Director of Clinical Education (Dentistry) and an Associate Professor in General Dental Practice at the School of Medicine and Dentistry—Griffith University, received his Bachelor Degree in Dental Medicine and Surgery from Cairo University in 2004 and completed his Master Degree in 2010. In 2012, Associate Professor Bakr was appointed as a full-time Lecturer in General Dental Practice with a special interest in teaching Oral Biology and Head and Neck Anatomy. He completed a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education in 2014 and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2019. Currently, he is an accredited examiner for the Australian Dental Council Examination for overseas-trained dentists and an approved member of the hearing panel for AHPRA notifications. Besides his teaching commitments, Mahmoud remains a clinician and undergoes private dental practice within Griffith University Dental Clinics. He has also published over 55 peer-reviewed journal articles in different fields including the effect of Botulinum Toxin on different oral tissues.
Students can expect to gain knowledge of facial landmarks, veins and arteries, the bony foundations of the face and its relationship to the musculature and how aging affects both. Students will learn to appreciate the “danger zones” important to all Aesthetic treatments and skin cancer doctors.
This course is suitable for those interested in aesthetic medicine, skin cancer medicine, or those who would like to increase their overall knowledge of facial anatomy. On completion of the lecture series and quizzes, students will be awarded a certificate of completion.
Course includes six-month access to Dr Bakr with your questions or queries.

Course Length:
6 weeks live interactive
- Completion of activities, including the final quiz exam (pass mark 80%) is required to be awarded CPD points.
- Enrollment will be confirmed, Dr Bakr will email a link to participants before Week One lecture;
- Weekly teaching and reinforcing quiz: 2 hours per week (live lecture) + 30 min reinforcing quiz (recommended to be completed before next lecture);
- Completion of activities required to claim CPD points;
- Emailed your completed final quiz to to educational support
within 7 days of Final Quiz completion; - Final Quiz 30 minutes (80% pass mark required);
- Award of Certificate of Completion Once enrolled;
- Associate Professor Bakr will invite you to your lecture via email on Wednesday
each week.
- Ensure the email that you enrol with is valid, and one you check regularly.
- Your completion certificate will be emailed to the email address you apply with, your certificate will be emailed to you within 6 weeks of completion.
