Fellowship Equivalence Requirements

Registered medical practitioners currently working in aesthetic medicine who hold a fellowship with a recognised aesthetic medicine college.

To be eligible, candidates must:

  1. Hold current AHPRA registration without conditions (must be maintained during membership).
  2. Maintain valid MDO insurance appropriate to their scope of aesthetic practice.
  3. Have a minimum of three years of experience in aesthetic medicine.
  4. Demonstrate current fellowship with a comparable aesthetic medicine college (e.g. CPCA, ACCSM, NZCAM, or international equivalents such as AAAM, BMC, or EFAMS-recognised programs).
  5. Be actively practising in cosmetic/aesthetic medicine.

Additional eligibility (as determined by the ACAM Board):

  • Past or present holders of high office in a recognised college or academy.
  • Individuals who have made a significant contribution to ACAM or the aesthetic medicine field.
  • ACAM reserves the right to award Fellowship in exceptional circumstances, even if all criteria are not met.

Important notes:

  • Fellowships such as RACGP and ACRRM are not recognised for equivalence.
  • Practitioners whose experience is mainly in non-cosmetic areas (e.g. skin cancer, general practice) or whose education is unclear may be invited to complete Pathway I or II instead.
  • Applicants without any completed fellowship are not eligible for the Equivalence Pathway.
